Music Shops

The term music shops can either refer to shops selling recorded media containing music or to shops selling musical instruments, although it is more common that somebody using the term music shops will be referring to the latter. Music shops often sell a variety of musical instruments and associated paraphernalia. There are music shops that specialise in one specific area selling only pianos, for example, and those which carry a much wider range of products.

There are number of independent music shops and they can be found throughout towns in the United Kingdom. There are also several chain music shops that exist such as Sound Control, although most chain or branded music shops have relatively few outlets and are generally located in major cities.

Recently there has been an increasing number of music shops trading online, most music shops now run a mail order service online and some trade exclusively across the internet. Many people make use of online music shops as they frequently sell their stock for significantly lower prices, however some individuals will often argue that it unwise to purchase instruments without trying them first as no two instruments, even when mass produced, are ever exactly alike. However despite this many people will still make use of online music shops to purchase accessories and items such as strings and plectrums as these types of item are frequently sold at a discounted rate in online music shops.
